Images in the NBCC Monthly Competition

Each month the North Bethesda Camera Club holds a competition with a defined topic. An outside judge is brought in. Prints and electronic images are judged separately; I only enter the electronic competition. New members are advised to compete in the "Novice" category until advised to compete in the advanced category and the competition is strong.

Moonlight Surfer at Waikiki

The goal here was to get a Moonrise over the Waikiki hotels, preferably with lovely glint on the ocean and a surfer. Sadly the clouds obscured the Moon before it got dark enough for the Moon glint to show, but I did get the surfer. Shot using the wonderful Nikon 85 mm f/1.4 lens which I rented for the occasion. The judge raved about the image, but squeezed it out just short of an Honorable Mention.
