Victorian Electronics
This collection of 1920's vintage vacuum tubes was owned by my father-in-law, James Hybner. Why he had them, I do not know. He was a self-taught TV repairman, after a career as an engineer-architect. As I photographed them using a 105 mm macro lens I was struck by the Victorian era engineering principles that were employed in building these early electronics. They are magnificent! The workmanship that went into the fine mechanical assembly and soldering was exquisite! The images range from realistic to somewhat fanciful, evoking the covers of science fiction magazines in the days of my youth.
