Our New Home on Lochview Terrace
We moved from our home of the past 45 years to a new home close-by. It is both larger and smaller; it offers one story living, and it has a garage! While the house is a bit smaller than our former home, at more than 3/4 of an acre, the lot is larger, We have vast expanses of lawn and towering trees - red maple, silver maple, locust, walnut, and pine. We have not so towering dogwood and crab apple, not to mention boxwoods, climbing hydrangea, rhododendron, and laurel. The house was built in 1956 and we fell in love with it at once. I later realized that this was the kind of house I tried to draw as a child ... it was aspirational - the kind of house I wish we had! It features a magnificent 12' picture window in the living room, with a view of a beautifully landscaped mansion, an 8' picture window in the master bedroom and yet another 8' picture window in the family room in the basement. At 3 bedrooms, it just meets our needs, and we are mostly on a single floor.

Proof of a View
Our street is named Lochview, to indicate that there is a view of the beautiful Loch Raven Reservoir recreation area. That may have been true in the fifties, but the trees around the reservoir have grown and it is difficult to be sure that one sees anything but trees. This early morning shot shows that we can see the Loch Raven Reservoir at the end of our street, some 500 feet from our house. Applied physics!
