Pot Spring Star Party September 18, 2021
The Pot Spring Neighborhood Association sponsored a star party at the nearby Cal Ripken Fields (AKA Vila Maria). Approximately 30 people participated, ranging in age from "almost 4" to 80. We say, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon,a number of bright stars and the International Space Station. A few got to see M13, a huge "globular cluster" of ancient stars half way to the center of our galaxy. That required a telescope and guidance from Matthew, a high school student who one day may be a famous astronomer.
The skies were clear for the first time in days, but the high local humidity and haze from the West Coast fires at high altitude limited out view of all but the brightest stars.
Feel free to download any of the images in this gallery. No need to purchase them.
Unless otherwise noted, all pictures were taken by Bob Murphy,
