Solar Eclipse of 2017
Pictures of the August 21, 2017 total eclipse of the Sun. They were taken from Driggs, Idaho, right at the state line with Wyoming. I used a Nikon D810 and the Nikon 300 mm f/2.8 telephoto. Also included are numerous shots from our visit to friends in Manhattan, Montana, Yellowstone National Park, and the Grand Teton National Park.

Moonshadow Acres in Driggs, Idaho August 21, 2017
A quarter mile from our rental on Moonshadow Lane we discovered a lonesome lamp post in the prairie. It was sitting on a cul-de-sac, surrounded by prairie grass. There were no homes in sight ... somebody's dream had gone bankrupt before a single home was built. But it was the perfect location for watching the eclipse, far from the maddening crowds in nearby Driggs with 10,000 people crowded near the town's single stop light.
The view is looking west to the Big Hole Mountains, about 12 miles away.
